This Privacy Policy explains what information Chapter2 (“we,” “us”) collects through chapter2.blog, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, and message content when you use our Contact page.
- Comments: your name, email address, and any content you submit if you leave a comment on an article.
- Analytics: we use Jetpack Stats to understand aggregated visit data such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location, and device type. This helps us understand what content is useful.
- Cookies: WordPress and Jetpack may set cookies for basic site functionality, such as remembering your comment details or keeping you logged in if you have an account on the site.
Spam protection
We use Akismet, provided by Automattic, to filter spam from comments and contact-form submissions. Akismet processes the content and metadata you submit to determine whether it is spam. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy for details on how Akismet handles data.
Advertising and personalized ads
Chapter2 does not currently display third-party advertising. If we enable advertising in the future — for example through Google AdSense — this section will be updated before launch to describe the advertising networks used, whether ads are personalized based on your browsing activity, the cookies and identifiers those networks use, and how to opt out of personalized advertising. A cookie-consent banner will ask for your permission where required (including for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, and applicable U.S. state privacy laws) before non-essential advertising cookies are set.
Embedded content
Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos or posts from other websites). Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly. That website may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Data retention
Contact form submissions and comments are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry or for as long as the associated content remains published, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us via our Contact page.

Legal Bases for Processing
Depending on how you interact with the Website, we process personal information under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Consent: When you consent to nonessential cookies, analytics, personalized advertising, or email communications. You may withdraw your consent at any time through the Website’s privacy settings or by contacting us.
- Legitimate interests: When processing is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Website; respond to appropriate inquiries; prevent misuse; or protect our legal rights, provided that those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
- Steps taken at your request: When you contact us and processing is necessary to respond to your request.
- Legal obligations: When processing is necessary to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or law-enforcement requirements.
Where consent is required, declining or withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing performed before withdrawal.
Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
We request consent before using nonessential cookies or similar technologies where required by applicable law. Visitors can accept, reject, or manage applicable choices through the Website’s consent-management interface.
Chapter2.blog may use Google Analytics and Google AdSense. These services may process device information, browser information, IP-derived information, usage activity, advertising identifiers, and cookie or consent information as described in this Privacy Policy and the providers’ policies.
International Data Transfers
Chapter2.blog is operated from the United States. Consequently, personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
When required, we and our service providers rely on legally recognized transfer safeguards, which may include applicable adequacy decisions, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, the United Kingdom International Data Transfer Addendum or other legally recognized safeguards.
The particular safeguard used may depend on the service provider and the location of the processing. You may contact us for additional information about safeguards relevant to your personal information.
Your Data-Protection Rights
Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have the right to:
- Request access to your personal information;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Request deletion of your information;
- Request restriction of processing;
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- Withdraw consent at any time;
- Request portability of information you provided;
- Lodge a complaint with the applicable data-protection authority; and
- Obtain information about applicable international-transfer safeguards.
To exercise a privacy right, contact privacy@chapter2.blog. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and process your request.
Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Specific retention periods depend on the type of information, the reason it was collected, and applicable legal requirements.
Privacy Rights for Residents of California and Other U.S. States
Certain U.S. state privacy laws may provide residents with rights regarding their personal information. These laws apply only when Chapter2.blog is subject to the applicable law and when the relevant legal requirements and thresholds are satisfied.
Categories of Personal Information
Depending on how you interact with Chapter2.blog and the services enabled on the Website, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers, such as your name, email address, IP address, cookie identifiers, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers;
- Internet or electronic-network activity, such as pages viewed, referring pages, interactions with content and advertisements, browser type, device information, and approximate timestamps;
- Approximate location information, such as a general location derived from an IP address;
- Communications, including information you provide through a contact form, email, comment, or subscription form;
- Advertising and analytics information, such as advertising interactions, consent selections, audience measurements, and inferred interests generated by analytics or advertising providers; and
- Other information you voluntarily provide when communicating with us.
We collect this information directly from you, automatically from your browser or device, and from service providers such as website-hosting, analytics, security, newsletter, and advertising providers.
We use this information to operate and secure the Website, respond to communications, deliver requested subscriptions, understand Website usage, improve content, prevent fraud or misuse, comply with legal obligations, and provide or measure advertising when enabled.
Disclosure, Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
We do not sell personal information in exchange for money.
When advertising or analytics services are enabled, we may allow providers such as Google to collect or receive identifiers, device information, internet activity, approximate location information, advertising interactions, and consent information. Some U.S. state privacy laws may define these activities as “sharing,” a “sale,” or processing for “targeted advertising,” even when no money is exchanged for the information.
Where required by applicable law, you may opt out of this processing through the Your Privacy Choices link available on the Website or by enabling a legally recognized universal opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control.
Your U.S. State Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, relevant thresholds, verification requirements, and legal exceptions, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information;
- Request access to personal information we maintain about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Request deletion of personal information;
- Obtain a portable copy of certain personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
- Opt out of processing for targeted advertising;
- Limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information, where applicable;
- Appeal a decision concerning a privacy request; and
- Exercise your rights without unlawful discrimination.
These rights are not absolute and may not apply in every jurisdiction or circumstance.
How to Exercise Your Rights
You may submit a privacy request by:
- Emailing privacy@chapter2.blog; or
- Using the Your Privacy Choices link displayed on the Website when that mechanism is available.
Please describe the right you wish to exercise and provide information reasonably necessary for us to identify the relevant records and verify the request. We will use verification information only to evaluate and respond to the request.
Where permitted by law, an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf. We may request evidence that the agent is authorized to act for you or may ask you to confirm the request directly.
If we deny a request and applicable law provides a right to appeal, you may appeal by emailing privacy@chapter2.blog with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.”
Browser Privacy Signals
Chapter2.blog is configured, where required and technically supported, to recognize legally applicable universal opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control. A Global Privacy Control signal may be applied to the browser or device from which the signal is received.
Because traditional “Do Not Track” signals do not provide a universally accepted technical or legal standard, the Website may not respond separately to those signals unless required by applicable law. We will, however, process legally recognized universal opt-out signals as described above.
Children’s Information
Chapter2.blog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16 for targeted advertising. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact privacy@chapter2.blog.
Changes in Applicability
Chapter2.blog may not currently meet the applicability thresholds of every comprehensive U.S. state privacy law. We nevertheless aim to provide reasonable transparency and privacy choices. We will periodically review the Website’s traffic, revenue, data-processing activities, advertising practices, and applicable legal thresholds and update this notice and our privacy mechanisms when necessary.
